Over the last month we have had a great workshop in two parts – ‘An introduction to the art of sock knitting’.
We squeezed in a full class of eight lovely ladies to be taught by Dorothy – knitting addict and wise woman of all things knitted. This time we decided to make socks in double knitting yarn as they grow quicker than with traditional 4ply sock yarn and using a thicker needle is easier for beginners to get the hang of using 4 double pointed needles.
Concentration was intense but there were lots of refreshments to keep up the energy levels
But the use of self – patterning yarns kept them racing ahead to get to the next colour.
The second class concentrated on turning the heel and here is a perfect example by Elenar
And eventually we got all the way to the toe – only grafting with Kitchener stitch left to go
